GARDENING TIP for MAY
FERTILIZING - If you haven't yet sprinkled a granular fertilizer on the mulch or soil around roses and shrubs, do so now. PRUNING - After they have bloomed, prune your shrubs like Forsythia, Azalea, Rhododendron, and other spring bloomers. HEMLOCK - Wooly adelgid is a serious pest of Hemlock. The insect appear as soft, white dots at the base of the narrow needled foliage. The best control for this problem is to spray a light horticultural oil, twice a year.
